It’s Hard to Tell
I would say Quasi’s confused by all the snow we’ve had…
but it’s kind of hard to tell…
She always looks like that.

Last week, the gym across the parking lot from my office started moving all this furniture out of their building. I’m not sure why a gym would have this kind of furniture, but I don’t ask questions like that. I ask questions like, “Hey, what are you guys doing with that furniture?”
In all fairness, I didn’t even get the question out. I made it about halfway across the parking lot when one of the gym employees asked me if I wanted some furniture.
“Seriously?”
“I can just have it?”
“Seriously?”
“And you’re going to carry it all across the parking lot and into the storage area within my office?”
Best gym ever.
So here’s what I got. For free. Free.
This amazing china hutch! The large piece on the left sits on top of the one on the right. It has glass doors (with the adorable touch of chicken wire), a light in the top, and pegs for glass shelves (the actual shelves were missing). The bottom has doors with shelves on each side and drawers in the middle.
Some close-ups:
I just love the trim and design of the top.
I also got a dining table and six chairs. The table expands, but they couldn’t find the leaf – but I can make that no problem.

The cabinet and drawers in the background went to other women in the office. Although, I would have LOVED to have that cabinet. I would have been able to turn that into an awesome bar.
So obviously, this is going to need some reupholstering and refinishing. This, uh, yellow/gold/green/purple combination just isn’t my thing. So what to do, what to do…
How about some before and after inspiration (courtesy of Design*Sponge)

Leslie Lewis Sigler’s chair:
Christine Hancock’s dresser:
Barb’s china hutch:
and Olga’s nightstand:
I’m thinking white with black details/trim, with a white and light aqua pattern background within the china hutch. Then painting the table white with black trim and the chairs all black with white and aqua seats. I’m going to figure out how to get some blackboard paint on there too.
I’ll let you know when it’s done (3 years from now)
.
I should be answering emails (or better yet sleepin’!) but it’s never too late for some Quasis!
Start the circus music!…

As true Blue-(and White) blooded Penn State fans, Quasi and I can’t wait for the start of college football season! The game’s not until this weekend, but Quasi just couldn’t wait…
Let’s go Lions!
Hi, remember me? I used to post things here? Anyone?
Well, it’s official! I’m a Bastard!
Trust me, that’s a good thing.

My UglyKitty will be at Crafty Bastards! I’ve been trying to get into this show for years and I’m finally going to be there, at my own booth.
Granted I won a table in a drawing, but still, who cares! I’m in!
Oh yeah, I guess you’d like to know the details:

Growing up, I spent my summers in California with my Mom’s extended family. When my grandma and grandpa had enough of the rambunctious little me, they’d send me to my aunt’s craft and gift store to bother spend time with her. I spent the days helping her base coat projects, painting t-shirts, eating gummi worms, and generally running the store
. But this is also where my love of crafting formed. It’s all my aunt’s fault.
We may argue who came up with ideas first, but my aunt is seriously talented and I wanted to share her newest creation, an adorable felted purse, with hand-dyed embelishments.
Seriously stunning.
She also has a fabulous thread collection
and a knack for creating things out of some interesting materials

Love ya!
(oh and thanks for putting up with me)
How do you people do it? Seriously? I haven’t updated this in a month! How am I to create loyal readers if I can’t post more than once a month? =P And it’s not that I don’t enjoy writing posts (note the purposeful omission of the term “blogging”), I like writing. I find myself rather amusing
, but seriously, there is so much going on in everyone’s lives, I just don’t how you do it.
Ok, so basically this is all stemming from my recent discovery of this Mac Mail RSS reader thing. I’m sure you’re all familiar with this feature, but Ms. UglyKitty isn’t always the first to pick up on trends (which reminds me, I want some slouchy boots to go with my new skinny jeans). Anyway…I just spent the last hour adding feeds to this reader thing…34 total. So far. That’s 34 blogs that I try (or would like to) keep up with every day. They all feature fabulous people, fabulous creations, and fabulous fabulocities that turn my bring into an inspired mush.
There are so many amazing people and artists out there that I find my head just swimming with “Ooh, I should make that”s. So I guess all this is a roundabout way of getting to my real point…is it better to focus on one type of craft or style or do whatever you feel like.
I’ve noticed that the successful shops have definite themes or at least styles to them: vintage, rustic, simple, elegant, etc. Or they focus on one thing: all baby clothes, but in different styles. I’ve never found myself to be the type of person who can focus on one style or craft and I’m beginning to think that it’s hurting not helping me.
I’ve applied to several craft shows recently that I haven’t gotten in to, and when looking at the vendors who were accepted, they all seem to have a specific theme going for themselves. I mean, I feel the need to refine my overall aesthetic and create more cohesive lines, but I can see myself staring off into the distance and longing to twirl. So, I guess my question is…is it better to stick to one thing or follow every inspiration and make whatever you damn well feel like?
