Welcome Olivia Bear (Livy) & Uncle Tobias (Toby or Tob-Tob)!

*fabulous names by the way, Courtney*

Name: Olivia Bear (Livy) & Uncle Tobias (Toby or Tob-Tob)

Sex: Female (Livy) & Male (Toby)

Age: 7 months, 1 year & a few months

Breed (if applicable): both American shorthair – Livy’s a black and white tuxedo and Toby’s a pale ginger tabby.

Hobbies: Chasing each other around the house (often using human family members as springboards for greater bouncing), wrestling, eating, watching the birds…

Olivia likes to give baths (even if you’re not a kitty), chase any light or reflection she sees and loves foil balls.

Toby’s a little more high strung and spends a lot of time searching the house for his Mommy while she’s at work. He likes to eat (lazily) lying on the floor near the food dish, and grabbing a kibble or two at a time.

Likes: Food, fuzzies on the floor (apparently they’re tasty), sleeping and playing.

Dislikes: Olivia doesn’t like being constrained or held very much, Toby gets very nervous if approached too quickly.

Quirks: Olivia has an odd habit of rolling around in the litterbox, she thinks it’s her own personal sandbox (and then she smells like litter too!). Toby likes to be held on his back so he can look after everything upside down – right before he pushes off and does a back flip!

How your pet became a part of your family: Olivia was adopted from the shelter by her Mummy and her uncle Toby was found at his Mommy’s work (he was hiding under a dumpster). Both were full of fleas and worms when they came to live with us, but they’re both healthy and happy kitties today!

Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: Olivia has a white bat shape on her lower belly and a pattern of dots in her eyes that shows up in photos (the vet doesn’t know what it is!). Toby is missing part of his tail; the end of his tail was somehow crushed before he came to live with us, for the first few months it was just a scabby dead piece hanging off the end of his tail. He’s fine today – just a little self-conscious!

Check out her Etsy Shop for gorgeous photographs too!

Aaaaaay…it’s The Fonz Ok, so I had a really bad joke I was about to insert, but judgement got the best of me (uh, sort of).  Anyway, introducing The Fonz!

Name: The Fonz

Sex: Male

Age: 9-ish

Hobbies: Attacking my giant tennis ball, eating, forcing people to cuddle with me, cleaning the bathtub after use.

Likes: Food, cuddling, turkey, meowing, visitors, and grinding my teeth.

Dislikes: Sharing my food with the other cat, being disturbed in my sleep, whistling!

Quirks: The Fonz not only has thumbs, but also secret toes tucked between his “normal” toes. This makes for a lot of work at bath time! He also grinds his teeth when happy, and likes people to watch him eat. As soon as anyone gets out of the shower or bath, he jumps in and licks the bathtub clean.

How The Fonz became a part of our family: The Fonz is a shelter cat, removed from a cat “collector” home with over 40 cats, all being poorly treated and cared for. He was 5 when we adopted him, therefore not expected to be adopted out as most people go for the kittens.

Anything else: The Fonz is just a lover who brings a smile to everyone’s face with his forcible cuddling. Although super-sized (around 20 pounds), he thinks he is a little kitty and is always trying to fit into small spaces!

Welcome Miko and Yumm Yumm, two siamese kitties who live with Sonia of http://www.soniaroselli.com (who by the way, wrote a great little feature on yours truly :) )

Now wake up and feed us some goddamn kibble.

Welcome Meeko (he’s on the right)!
Name: Meeko Piewalker Landers
Sex: Yes, with furry blankets…errr I mean Male
Age: I’m a man, I’m 9!
Breed: I have no clue but my Momma thinks I’m Javanese
Hobbies: Biting ankles, sleeping in Momma and Dan’s bed, being bad to the bone
Likes: Greenies treats, wet food, Fat Cat toys, catnip, anything pink or purple, head sniffs, kisses and hugs
Dislikes: Anyone touching my back feet, the doctors office, being boarded (or as I call it Rehab!)
Quirks: When I was a kitten I could do backflips!  My middle name comes from walking across warm just baked pies one Christmas eve, Momma was not happy, but laughed it off when she saw Merigune all the way up my legs.
How I became part of t he family:  My Momma rescued me from the yucky pet store at the State College mall, I was extremely young and in a too small dirty cage.  My Momma cried when she saw me in there and couldn’t walk out knowing I was living in those conditions, so she brought me home.
Misc: I have walked with a limp since I was 2 years old.  I was hit by a car during a PA snowstorm and broke both my hips, I was a smart survival kitty and hunkered down for 3 weeks until I could drag myself back home.

Age: That’s none of your business
Weight: See previous answer
Likes: getting in the way, laps, floral bed coverings
Dislikes: baths, things that don’t revolve around me
Quirks: he’s got a great eye for trends and helps with most of the design work
Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: Cooper rocks!

Welcome Josh to the Friends of Quasi Club!

As a kitten…and now:

Name: Josh
Sex: Male
Age: two
Hobbies: eating, sleeping, cleaning people, carrying massive toys around, playing with sweet wrappers, fighting with his best friend
Likes: eating other cats’ food, sleeping with his friends, watching birds on the tv, having mini adventures in the garden
Dislikes: going to the vets, loud noises, the hoover
Quirks: just his funny personality!
How your pet became a part of your family: Josh was found in 2006 as a stray and taken to rescue. The vets at the rescue said due to the size of his head and the liklihood that he had water on the brain that the kindest thing to do would be to put him to sleep. Thankfully someone told us and we stepped in and took him in and fostered him with the help of another charity. Josh does have water on the brain but it’s only mild.
Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: Josh is just such a character. He’s got a great personality but his condition does make him very confused and upset at times. He loves other cats and helps to look after foster kittens too.

I’m still in Alaska(!), but I received my first “friends” of Friends of Quasi!  I’d like to introduce you to Wembly, Gobo, and Boober, and their owner Heidi, who by the way, live in State College – a town near and dear to a Penn State alum’s heart! :)

Name: Wembly
Sex: Female
Age: Four (?)
Hobbies: Sleeping, blanket tag, shoving her whole face under a running tub faucet
Likes: Cat food, laser pointers, fast moving objects past the bay window
Dislikes: Boo, her sister
Quirks: Likes to bit the tips our her owner’s noses
How your pet became a part of your family: Adopted from a private family
Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: She is a polydactyl cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydactyl_cat).  Wembley also has the biggest back paws of the bunch with one paw having 7 digits originally, but one was removed for health reasons when she was spayed. Her name is from the television show “Fraggle Rock”

===================================

Name: Gobo
Sex: Male
Age: Four (?)
Hobbies: Being chased by my husband around the house, playing fetch with the rabbit fur mouse toy
Likes: Cat food, laser pointers, fast moving objects past the bay window, a feathered cat toy carefully tucked away in our hall closet out of sight since it turns Gobo feral when he plays with it
Dislikes: Face being blown into, meows when people sneeze – we can’t figure out if he is saying “Bless You” or “Be Quiet”
Quirks: Fetches, likes to lay like a dog with his back legs completely extended behind him; his belly flat on the floor
How your pet became a part of your family: Adopted from a private family
Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: He is a polydactyl cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydactyl_cat).  His name is from the television show “Fraggle Rock” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraggle_Rock). And is mitten like front paws are just way to cute :) He sits on my lap like a human child would and doesn’t mind it. He licks his owner’s hair like he cleans his sisters’ fur. He talks to us when we talk to him.

===================================

Name: Boo (A.K.A. Boober)
Sex: Female
Age: Four (?)
Hobbies: Sitting on a cat pedestal meowing while we eat dinner; meowing for attention and not the food
Likes: Cat food, laser pointers, playing with stuffed mouse toy when it has gone under the foyer closet’s door
Dislikes: Strangers and loud noises, like the doorbell
Quirks: Fetches, Purrs very loudly
How your pet became a part of your family: Adopted from a private family
Anything else cute, funny, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever you’d like to share: She is a polydactyl cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydactyl_cat).  Her name is from the television show “Fraggle Rock” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraggle_Rock). And very appropriately, Boober from the show was the afraid and cautious character of the main five Fraggles.

A few weeks ago, I introduced you to a charming little kitty named Chase, who despite an unfortunate accident as a kitten, has grown into a fabulously “adorkable” and well-loved kitty.  Chase inspired me to start a “Friends of Quasi” page to feature other “ugly kitties” (and any other animal who may be less than perfect – which ironically makes them “more than perfect,” right?).

So, please welcome “Chase, the cat with no face,” as the inaugural Friend of Quasi.

If you have an adorkable pet (OK regular pets are welcome too) and want to be a Friend of Quasi, please send her and email at quasi@myuglykitty.com and include the following information about your pet:

Just a little legal stuff:  By submitting a photo, you are giving me permission to post it on www.myuglykitty.com and on Flickr (I use Flickr to promote the My UglyKitty blog and would love to post the photo there with a link to here and your site).  I will give you full credit for all photos and will be happy to link them to wherever you’d like.  I will not post the photo on any other website or media or distribute the photo without prior permission from the owner.

Thanks!
